Bondage for Beginners
Many couples yearn to try something different– spice up the monotony that often rears its head in monogamous relationships. That’s why 50 Shades of Grey is such a popular phenomenon. All the taboo bedroom acts we’d fantasized about were now making their way into mainstream conversation.
Now that I've finally seen 50 Shades Darker, I’m retooling my 50 Shades of Play: Introduction to Kink! workshop and I’m totally in the mood to talk bondage for beginners:
Successful kink requires thoughtful communication.
Communication is key to a happy sex life. I say this at each and every workshop I teach. It’s KEY! A few things that are most important to discuss prior to jumping right into the action:
1. Agree on a “safe word” and/or gesture.
TIP: It should be a word/gesture that isn’t normally said/done during sex that tells your partner to stop, a limit has been reached.
2. Discuss your fantasies and limits.
What is your ultimate fantasy? What are your “deal-breakers”? What types of kink are you into (bondage, role play, dominance/submission, etc.)? How far are you willing to go? You both should know the answers to these questions and more before diving into kinkier pursuits.
3. Invest in some assistance.
Toys are great for exploring kink. Consider investing in a door swing to bring your bondage exploits to higher heights. Not quite ready yet to get that full blown kinky? Get started with my Under The Bed Restraint System (pictured right) or choose from the other bondage toys below.
